From Developer To Product Manager"

My Journey from Programmer to Product Manager
For a while, I thought my path in tech would be simple - write better code, become a better developer, and eventually earn 20k as a Senior for sitting in my desk. But over time, I realized what excited me wasn’t just the how things were built, but the why.
🧑💻 My Start as a Programmer
Like many others, I started out deep in the code. I worked for almost two years as a software developer, most of that time at ASD Systems. I loved solving problems and shipping features - but something was missing. I found myself constantly wondering:
- Why are we building this?
- How does it help the user?
- What’s the goal here?
I was already thinking like a Product Manager - I just didn’t know it yet.
🔄 The Transition Point
It wasn’t a single moment, but a series of nudges. I began participating in planning meetings, talking with customer support, and proposing improvements. Eventually, I was offered the opportunity to move into a hybrid PM role.
That’s when things really changed.
I became a Product Manager
🧭 What I Do Now
Today, I work on defining product roadmaps, coordinating deliveries, and making sure the team not only ships on time - but builds the right things. I work closely with devs, business stakeholders, and customers.
My responsibilities include:
- Coordinating development of core products and side projects
- Running workshops and trainings
- Supporting international expansion (Canada, Australia)
- Driving automation, integrations, and smart UX decisions
And I’m still learning - every day.
🚀 Why I’m Sharing This
Because if you’re a developer who’s curious about product, I’ve been there.
If you’ve asked questions that go beyond your ticket or JIRA story - you might be ready to take the leap too.
This blog is a space for me to share what I’ve learned and what I’m still figuring out. Whether it’s Scrum, product strategy, or growing as a PM, I want to bring you along for the journey.
Let’s build better products - and enjoy the ride.
